Off- Campus
Off Campus Has Officially Become a Hit — And Season 2 Is Already Taking Us Back to Briar
If you've been anywhere near BookTok, Prime Video or apparently the internet in general over the last few months, you've probably heard about Off Campus.
And if you haven't watched it yet, you might want to catch up because this show isn't quietly becoming popular.
It's becoming huge.
Prime Video's adaptation of Elle Kennedy's Off-Campus book series premiered on May 13, 2026, with Season 1 adapting The Deal and focusing on Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham.
Ella Bright plays Hannah, a music student who wants help getting the attention of another guy, while Belmont Cameli plays Garrett, Briar University's hockey star who desperately needs to improve his grades.
Naturally, a deal is made.
She tutors him.
He helps her get another guy's attention.
And anyone who has ever read a romance novel knows exactly how well plans like that usually go.
But what surprised me isn't necessarily that people liked Hannah and Garrett.
It's just how quickly Off Campus became a phenomenon.
The Numbers Are Kind of Insane
According to Amazon, Off Campus reached 36 million viewers worldwide within its first 12 days.
That made it the third most-viewed debut season of any series in Prime Video history, behind only The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Fallout.
That is a massive accomplishment for a college romance series.
Especially when you consider what it's competing against.
This isn't Marvel.
This isn't a giant fantasy franchise with a massive special-effects budget.
It's hockey players, college students, romance, friendship and drama.
And somehow that was exactly what audiences wanted.
The BookTok-to-TV Pipeline Is Very Much Alive
Part of what makes Off Campus interesting is what its success says about television right now.
The original Off-Campus books already had a huge following, but social media gave them another life years after they were originally published.
Then Prime Video took that built-in audience and turned the books into a television universe.
But I don't think the show's success can completely be credited to people who already loved the books.
Thirty-six million viewers means this escaped the BookTok bubble.
People who had never read The Deal started watching.
And suddenly Garrett Graham's curly hair was everywhere.
The cast started gaining massive attention.
Fans began showing up near filming locations.
And Belmont Cameli has now even landed a TRESemmé campaign centered around those curls.
So yes.
Garrett Graham's hair has officially entered its own era.
Why Season 1 Worked
What Off Campus did really well was understand exactly what kind of show it wanted to be.
It didn't seem embarrassed about being a romance.
Sometimes adaptations of romance novels almost feel like they're trying to distance themselves from the genre that made people love the books in the first place.
Off Campus leaned into it.
There was chemistry.
There was longing.
There were hookups.
There were friendships.
There was hockey.
There was drama.
But there was also enough emotional weight underneath everything to make Hannah and Garrett feel like actual people rather than simply two attractive characters we're waiting to see kiss.
Critics responded too. The first season earned strong reviews, with critics particularly acknowledging how fully the series embraced the romance genre.
And Prime Video clearly knew what it had before audiences even saw it.
Because Season 2 was renewed in February 2026 — approximately three months before Season 1 even premiered.
So… What Is Season 2 About?
This is probably the biggest thing viewers need to know:
Season 2 is NOT another Hannah and Garrett season.
We're switching couples.
Season 2 will officially focus on Allie Hayes and Dean Di Laurentis, played by Mika Abdalla and Stephen Kalyn.
And if you read the books, you already know exactly where we're headed.
Their story comes from Elle Kennedy's third Off-Campus novel, The Score.
Allie is coming out of a long-term relationship and definitely isn't looking for another serious one.
Dean is…
Dean.
He is very committed to not being committed.
So naturally, after they hook up, the plan is supposed to be simple.
Casual.
No feelings.
No relationship.
Again, romance readers know exactly how that's going to go.
And Season 1 already started quietly putting the pieces into place for them.
Season 2 Is Already Filming
The best part is we aren't waiting for production to begin.
They're already filming.
Production on Season 2 is currently underway in Vancouver, and Belmont Cameli recently confirmed that he's back on set with the cast.
According to Cameli, the team is trying to protect the same chemistry and feeling that made Season 1 work despite the enormous amount of attention the series now has.
The entire eight-episode Season 2 has also already been written.
Showrunner Louisa Levy has teased that book readers are going to be very excited about what they have planned.
Which is exactly the kind of vague statement designed to make us obsess over every possibility.
Hannah and Garrett Aren't Disappearing
Switching to Dean and Allie doesn't mean we're saying goodbye to Hannah and Garrett.
Belmont Cameli is returning as Garrett Graham, and Ella Bright is also part of the continuing ensemble.
That's important because Off Campus is becoming less like a traditional television show where one couple remains at the center forever and more like something similar to Bridgerton.
Every season can introduce a new main romance while the couples we've already fallen in love with continue existing around them.
And considering there are multiple books in Elle Kennedy's universe, Prime Video has a LOT of material to work with.
Logan and Grace Are Coming
And this is where things get even more interesting.
John Logan's story is also being set up.
Antonio Cipriano plays Logan, and India Fowler is joining the series as Grace Ivers.
Book readers will immediately recognize Grace as Logan's love interest from The Mistake.
Which raises a very interesting question.
Why are we getting Dean and Allie's The Score story before Logan and Grace's The Mistake story when The Mistake comes second in the books?
It appears the television series is building several romances simultaneously instead of strictly adapting one book after another.
That could mean Logan and Grace are being developed throughout Season 2 so their story can eventually take center stage.
And honestly, I like that.
It makes Briar feel like an actual friend group instead of everyone disappearing the second their book ends.
Tucker Is Waiting Too
And then we have John Tucker.
Jalen Thomas Brooks plays Tucker, whose love story eventually becomes the focus of The Goal.
So if Prime Video continues following the major couples from the books, they already have potential future seasons sitting right there.
Hannah and Garrett.
Dean and Allie.
Logan and Grace.
Tucker and Sabrina.
This could very easily become Prime Video's college-romance version of the Bridgerton formula.
And after those Season 1 numbers?
I wouldn't be surprised if that's exactly what Amazon hopes happens.
One Season 1 Character Isn't Coming Back
There is one noticeable absence.
Josh Heuston, who played Justin Kohl in Season 1, is not returning for Season 2 because of availability issues.
The door hasn't necessarily been permanently closed on the character, but Justin won't be part of the upcoming season.
For Hannah and Garrett's story, though, his major purpose has pretty much already been served.
Sorry, Justin.
When Is Season 2 Coming Out?
Here is where I unfortunately have to give you the answer nobody wants.
There is no official Season 2 release date yet.
Because production is currently underway in Vancouver, a 2027 premiere has been widely expected, but Prime Video has not officially announced a release date.
So don't mark your calendar yet.
But the fact that the scripts are finished and filming is already happening means Season 2 isn't some distant idea.
Briar is officially back in session.
Off Campus Might Be Bigger Than One Hit Season
The thing I'm most interested in now isn't necessarily whether Season 2 will be popular.
It's whether Off Campus is about to become Prime Video's next long-running romance franchise.
Thirty-six million viewers in 12 days is not a small fandom.
And the show has something that streaming services desperately want: an existing universe full of characters audiences can continuously fall in love with.
Season 1 gave us Hannah and Garrett.
Season 2 is giving us Dean and Allie.
Logan and Grace are already being positioned.
Tucker is still waiting for his turn.
And Elle Kennedy has written even more stories within the Briar universe beyond the original books.
So this could theoretically keep going for a while.
Personally?
I'm completely okay with spending the next few years at Briar University.
I just need Prime Video to keep the hockey house intact.
And now I need to know:
Are we excited for Dean and Allie?
Or are you already waiting for Logan and Grace?
