Who I Am

I’m Chrissy A. Phoenix, a writer, screenwriter, and entertainment journalist originally from Los Angeles, California. My background in English and Creative Writing has allowed me to explore different forms of storytelling, but I’ve always been especially drawn to stories that are emotional, romantic, mysterious, nostalgic, or filled with a little bit of magic.

I write across several genres, including romance, fantasy, contemporary fiction, mystery, and young adult and middle grade fiction. While my stories can be very different from one another, they usually have one thing in common: characters who are trying to figure out who they are, where they belong, and what they’re willing to fight for.

Some of the authors who have influenced me most are J.K. Rowling, Diana Gabaldon, Nicholas Sparks, and J.R.R. Tolkien. I love the way they create memorable characters, emotional relationships, and worlds that readers want to return to long after finishing the story. I want my own writing to give readers that same feeling.

Outside of fiction, I work in entertainment journalism covering film, television, music, pop culture, fandom, conventions, and entertainment news. I’ve also worked as a background actor in Los Angeles, which gave me another perspective on the film and television industry and made me even more interested in screenwriting and production.

My long term goal is to publish novels, write professionally for film and television, continue expanding my entertainment journalism work, and eventually bring some of my own stories from the page to the screen. I am currently building my writing portfolio and seeking opportunities for publication, representation, media coverage, interviews, and creative collaboration.

Most of all, I just really love stories. Whether I’m writing one, watching one, reporting on one, or talking way too much about one, storytelling is where I feel most at home.
